AheadForm Elf Xuan: The Chinese Bionic Robot That Went Viral
The Elf Xuan robot by AheadForm Robotics was created by AheadForm, a Shanghai robotics company. The face is what people notice first.
This face has pointy ears, slim features, and high cheekbones. The face resembles the appearance of characters from video games and movies. People do not see the resemblance between the robot and any real person because the viewers understand the fact that the robot has a character face and begin observing the eyes, mouth, and facial expressions.
Under the skin, 30 bionic sets of facial muscles can be moved independently. Eyes, corners of the mouth, cheeks, and lips move separately. This allows it to blink, look at the audience, move the corners of its mouth, and shape lips during the process of singing. All movements are minimal, which makes the face more realistic.
The robot gained popularity after the performance on Robot Wonder Night on February 8, 2026. The robot sat on the stage and sang “Undefined Relationship” in front of a line of bipedal robots below. It had an amusing atmosphere typical for the internet where an elf-like bionic robot was singing a love song to industrial robots.
AheadForm Origin M1: A Robot Head Built Around Eye Contact
Origin M1 is yet another creation from AheadForm, but it is not a whole-body humanoid. This robot is a hyper-realistic robot head that is part of the company’s Origin Series, with emphasis on facial movements and eye contact.
Inside the bionic skin, 25 mini-brushless motors control the movements of the eyes, mouth, cheeks, and facial muscles. The robot can blink, move eyes, open the mouth, nod, and change the facial expression. In comparison with the Elf Xuan fantasy character, the Origin M1 seems to be closer to a human face.
The most vivid organ is the eyes. The pupils are equipped with cameras, which enable visual perception and face orientation detection. During the conversation, the robot head will look at the person, blink, and move the head a little.
The robot also has microphones and speakers that allow real-time voice interaction. In the Origin M1 “Only Head” release of September 2025, the robot blinks, looks around the room, nods a little, and moves the mouth and cheeks without going overboard.
UBTECH U1: A Full-Size Bionic Humanoid With 88 Degrees of Freedom
UBTECH U1 comes from UWORLD, a consumer-facing brand under Shenzhen-based UBTECH. It takes a different path from UBTECH’s Walker S1 and Walker S2 factory robots. U1 is aimed at emotional companionship, commercial reception, and face-to-face interaction.
U1 comes in male and female versions. The male version is 183 cm tall and weighs 42 kg. The female version is 168 cm tall and weighs 35.2 kg.
Both versions have 88 degrees of freedom across the legs, arms, hands, neck, and chest. Battery life is listed at about 2 to 4 hours, with Wi-Fi support. Public preorder information also mentions an emotional companion AI model, appearance customization, local encrypted memory, and more personalized interaction settings.
DroidUp Moya: A Walking Bionic Humanoid Robot With Warm Skin
Moya comes from Shanghai-based DroidUp. It was introduced in January 2026 at Zhangjiang Robot Valley in Shanghai and is positioned as a fully bionic embodied AI robot.
Moya is about 1.65 meters tall and weighs around 32 kg. Its outer layer uses eco-friendly silicone skin. The body includes temperature control, keeping the skin between 32°C and 36°C. That gives Moya something most humanoid robots still lack: body warmth.
The head integrates 25 high-precision drive units for the eyes, eyebrows, mouth, and facial muscles. Public specifications mention 8 mouth servos, 4 eyebrow servos, 4 eye drive units, and 9 facial muscle simulation units. Moya can blink, smile, shift its gaze, and make small facial expressions.
The body has 16 degrees of joint freedom. Moya can walk indoors and on public roads, and it can also handle stairs. Official release materials describe its walking posture as 92% similar to human walking.
Which Chinese Humanoid Robot Looks the Most Human?
Elf Xuan feels like a virtual character brought into the real world. Origin M1 is strongest in the face, especially the eyes. UBTECH U1 has human-scale proportions and a full-body social presence. DroidUp Moya adds something harder to fake: warmth, walking, and a complete bionic body.
